Thank you for taking the time to visit the website of Daniel J. Cosio, Assistant Professor of Trombone at the University of Northern Colorado! Aside from being an educator, Daniel is a multi-instrumentalist, arranger, and new-music advocate currently located in Boulder, Colorado. Daniel completed his BM in Trombone Performance at the University of North Texas, an MM in Trombone Performance at the University of Minnesota, and is actively pursuing a DMA in Trombone Performance and Pedagogy at the University of Colorado Boulder. Daniel is ecstatic to announce his new appointment as the Assistant Professor of Trombone at the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley! He is looking forward to working with some amazing new students and collaborating with great new colleagues. Stay tuned for announcements about the UNC trombone studio and Daniel's faculty recital!
Performance Opportunities
Daniel has over a decade of experience in classical, jazz, metal, and more, and is always ready and willing to take on new and exciting projects. Need a descant alto trombone for Easter? How about a bass vocalist for a local church production? Maybe an 8-track recording of a trombone choir piece you've recently written?
Lessons and Masterclasses
Daniel has many experiences with teaching both individuals and groups. His previous experiences range from one-on-one private lessons to full high school studio masterclasses of over 30 students, with many combinations in between. Additionally, Daniel also has minor experience conducting small ensembles.
Compositions & Arrangements
Since 2011, Daniel has been experimenting with composing and arranging for various ensembles, including wind band, jazz big band, trombone choir, solo trombone with piano, rock/metal group, and more. Notable arrangements include the works of Snarky Puppy, Periphery, Jacob Collier, and more.
